To change the primary oil in your Harley-Davidson motorcycle, you'll need to follow these steps:

  1. Gather your materials. You'll need a drain pan, a new gasket, a new filter, and enough primary oil to refill the primary after you drain it.

  2. Locate the drain plug. The primary drain plug is located underneath the primary cover on the left side of the engine. Remove the drain plug and let the oil drain into the pan.

  3. Remove the primary cover. After the oil has drained out, remove the bolts that hold the primary cover in place. Once the cover is removed, you can access the primary chain and clutch assembly.

  4. Replace the gasket. Before you put the cover back on, you'll need to replace the gasket. Make sure the old gasket is completely removed before installing the new one.

  5. Replace the oil filter. Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.

  6. Refill the primary. Using a funnel, pour the recommended amount of primary oil into the primary through the oil fill port.

  7. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle for a minute or two. Check the oil level in the primary and add more oil if necessary.

  8. Clean up. Dispose of the old oil and filter properly. Clean up any spilled oil and reattach the drain plug and cover.

It's important to consult your owner's manual for the recommended type and amount of oil to use, and to follow proper disposal procedures for the old oil and filter.
